It’s Here! Sharing the Point Asia Tour

It is exciting to hear about friends and SharePoint Experts as they begin the journey East. Everyone is excited about the Asia Sharing the Point Tour. Last week I was in New Orleans presenting at a SharePoint Saturday and we received lots of great feedback from experts who are cheering our efforts. The tweets on Twitter are picking up and you one can sense the growing excitement and anticipation.

Our group is starting to arrive in Australia today. I am writing this post from the Air New Zealand lounge at LAX, anxiously waiting to meet up with SharePoint experts tomorrow. The first presentations will be at the Australia SharePoint conference. Michael Noel and Joel Oleson are fresh off a recent trip to South Africa. Hearing the stories about the community efforts in that part of the worked will be motivating.

We travel to China on Wednesday. This will be a whirlwind tour. Sharing experience and best practices with SharePoint experts in China will be a thrill. If you see Dux ask him about our plans in Manila. We arrive in the Philippines on Friday. Apparently we’ll be spending time with the local community and receiving a first class tour of the city.

Keep checking back for updates.

Cheers,

Paul Swider

Sharing the Point Asian Tour Venues Announced!

Just a quick post to mention that the venues for each stop on the tour have now been announced, and are listed on the individual city pages (linked below), but I'll save you a click and include the info here as well:

The final schedules and agendas for each city are now being determined, and registration information for the free events will be coming soon.

Standing on the Shoulders of Giants

Hiya.  John Anderson here, doing my first-ever bit of SharePoint blogging outside the confines of Bamboo Nation (where it's my privilege to serve as Managing Editor).

I just wanted to say "hello" and publicly state what an honor it is to be a member of the Sharing the Point Asian Tour team.  Dux Raymond Sy first mentioned to me his idea for an Asian SharePoint tour sometime back in the late spring or early summer of 2010, and I wasted no time in volunteering my services as a lead blogger if such a tour were to come to pass.

That the tour would come to pass was never a certainty, but as the all-star team came together (I think of these guys as a veritable Justice League of SharePoint ... roll call: Joel Oleson, Paul Swider, Mark Miller, Eric Harlan, Michael Noel, and Dux himself), the likelihood of becoming a reality began to seem foreordained.  And once Rob LaMear of Fpweb.net came on board to sponsor the tour, writing a check that can only be described as superheroic, there was no stopping us.

In my role as "embedded journalist" on the Sharing the Point Asian Tour, the inaugural outing of this merry band of thieves, you can expect to see me posting here daily throughout the Tour come March, but I may pop in from time to time prior to then as well with updates on tour planning.  I also hope to convince members of the SharePoint Justice League to drop in for some drive-by posting during the tour, but I can't promise anything on that score as they'll be earning their keep by speaking at the Sharing the Point events.  No matter what happens though, I promise that there will be no shortage of tour coverage in this space.
